    Sorriso 181

    No release diz assim ó:
Sua agência, Manage-ment, inclui sucessos como Mad Men, Breaking Bad, Royal Pains, The Sopranos.
    Nada do nosso. Complicado.
Tenso.
Last but not least o nosso roteiro surge.

    So says the press release:
"Dan Halsted represents the leading screenwriters and directors of American films and TV series. His agency, Manage-ment, includes great successes, such as Mad Men, Breaking Bad, Royal Pains, The Sopranos. And one of his young talents is the author of Beasts of the Southern Wild, nominated for Best Film Academy Award."
And there was he, less than one meter away, giving tips to everyone, pointing paths, offering solutions, talking so sincerely and passionate about his experience, that in my head another series was born. Seriously.
    - I don't like to work with people who think they are small... if you repeat everyday to yourself that you're a bad writer, you will end up becoming one.
    And more.
    - Do not work with failures, "almost" projects. Even though we learn from them, we must talk about successes... Things that succeeded! Connect your name with winning projects!
    Up, up and away.
Then he started to talk about each participant's screenplay. Time was over and then more time was given. A pause to read the last ones.
    Nothing about our project. Harsh.
Coffee, water, pee, tension, curiosity. Everything in its liquid state, coming through pore, veins... tension.
Last but not least there comes our screenplay. He makes a funny face and then becomes serious, focused, and for the first time I see the Agent, just in front of me.
Surgical, precise comments, and as he funnily suggested to one of other writers:
    - Hey, let's not start an argue. In LA writers just smile and say just "I will think about it", even they are thinking "he just said shit" with their buttons.
And he smiled. As he smiled with the brigadeiro, the guaraná and the mate.
    - I'm native!
After his notes and positive comments about our lines, characters, plot, he seemed really satisfied to say?
    - I can see myself zapping TV and seeing this show running!
BANG! I suddenly travel back in time, when I first made contact with the subject, when I was creating the feature film, discovering the character, the spin off idea, calling Rafael and Guto to empower the child to make his first steps, pilot, world...
This is like finding Vogler's book's mentor and he saying: carry on!
    - Since the earliest times, we tell stories... I don't know what it is. Perhaps it is a sensitive, mythical experience...
I know what you are talking about, Dan. Thank you for this day. A day that should be bottled and to be drunk, little by little, every following day.
